Heath Schuman
Owner and President/CEO Schuman started his business as a teenager in 1985, continued it while attending Salisbury University, and has expanded it since graduation. He leads three companies as the CEO of the business enterprise known as Schuman – Schuman Boat & Yacht Detailing, Schuman Commercial & Home Cleaning, and, his latest venture, Nautic Air.
Heath Schuman’s strategy for growth has been based on four principles that have differentiated his companies from competitors. Trust, careful listening, an abiding commitment to solving problems, and exceptional customer service are vital threads woven into the tapestry of reputation that Schuman enjoys with clients, among competitors, and throughout the industry.
Charles “Dusty” Pearsall
Microorganism Testing Protocol Specialist
Charles Pearsall is the president of Hygiene Assurance Group, a company that designs and implements customized proactive programs for the prevention and control of infectious diseases, mold, and the enhancement of food safety.
Since 1998, Pearsall has performed over 500 facility operations inspections in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. These projects have centered on mold infestation, infectious disease outbreaks, food transportation, food storage, food safety, livestock products, food traceability, water treatment and recycling, aquaculture, and food processing. Pearsall’s concepts and expertise in the design and integration of continuous and multiple microbial interventions are utilized by major food companies and others to enhance production efficiencies, improve food safety, increase product shelf life, and preserve the environment.
Jim Smith Jr.

Jim Smith Jr. is President/CEO of NRL & Associates Inc., an ISO:9001-2000 certified state-of-the-art high-tech machine, fabrication, and assembly shop. The company provides strict tolerance, custom-engineered products in metals, plastics, wood, and composite materials for a broad range of industries. NRL is located in Central Maryland and serves the defense, homeland security, bio detection, aerospace, medical, telecom, amusement, commercial, microwave, wireless, and gas industries.
Smith has 25 years experience in engineering design and manufacturing. He works across a wide range of industries, which gives him a well-rounded knowledge of designing for manufacturability and identifying the best manufacturing processes to use on specific products, resulting in superior quality parts, better performance, and often lowered manufacturing costs.
Jim Smith Sr.
Electrical Engineer
Jim Smith Sr. is a retired senior engineer from Westinghouse Electric, where he served for over 31 years and was actively involved in undersea sonar, surface communication, and air radar equipment projects. Smith has designed and installed single- and three-phase power systems, residential and commercial, and provided power, digital video, and audio wiring across a broad array of applications. Smith has also designed hydraulic displacement cylinder and rotary motor test beds. He has performed hydraulic and clean room, air and fluid certifications, including “Oxygen Clean” certifications. As a quality assurance engineer for Westinghouse, Smith designed, configured and conducted system operational and environmental testing that included electrical, mechanical, thermal and hydrostatic stress tests to assure compliance with military specification requirements.
S. Todd Stevens
Mold Remediation Specialist
Todd Stevens is co-founder and CEO of the Atlantic Services Group (ASG), a company providing a variety of property inspection and property management services. He currently manages several major brands for ASG including serving as president of Building Specs Inc.® a national inspection, environmental testing and training firm with more than 40 corporate and affiliate offices across the country. He is also the president of ASG’s Environmental Remediation & Abatement Services Group.
Stevens is a licensed inspector and certified thermographer who speaks and trains on the topics of mold, infrared, the home inspection industry, and many environmental issues. He is the featured host for the recently released training video Infrared (IR) Camera Series: Thermal Imaging Fundamentals and Green Building Concepts: Understanding Green Building (fall release, 2008). He is also lead instructor for the GRI® 300 Series: Environmental Issues. Stevens is a national trainer, preparing indoor air quality professionals for National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) certification.
David R. Hoffman, P.E.
Professional Engineer
David R. Hoffman is senior vice president of Gipe Associates, Inc. Consulting Engineers, where he is responsible for surveys, studies, preparation of specifications, production of designs, quality reviews, and construction administration for various projects. Hoffman has been involved in both new construction and renovation projects requiring HVAC, plumbing, geothermal, fire protection, industrial ventilation, thermal storage, fuel oil process piping, piping, and energy management systems for industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. Hoffman has been Principal in Charge for numerous projects such as White Marsh Elementary School, Judy Center HVAC Modifications, Kidney Dialysis Center of New Jersey, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
